Much like the Van Cleef and Arpels Planétarium and Romain Gauthier Insight MicropRotor Lady, this is up there as a cool ladies’ timepiece that is both beautiful and technically intriguing.

There are few watches more classic than the original 1972 Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Replica Watches. That slim, stainless steel sport watch’s most direct modern descendent is the so-called “Jumbo” Royal Oak, which has a 39mm case coming in at just 8.1mm thick. The watch you see here shares those dimensions – and looks almost exactly the same at first glance – but is actually crafted from a mix of titanium and platinum. This isn’t the first time Audemars Piguet has used these two metals together. In fact, last year the brand offered up two different watches in the combination, the Royal Oak Tourbillon Extra-Thin and the Best Audemars Piguet Replica. I wrote fondly of those back then, and I stand by my assessment. The “two-tone” combo works really well, especially with the blue dial chosen for this latest watch, which appears to have a slightly different effect than that of the standard Jumbo. Creating meaningful variations on a classic without disrupting the qualities that make it special in the first place is difficult, but Audemars Piguet clearly knows what they’re doing.

Initial Thoughts

I’m into this watch. Like, really into this watch. From a distance, it would be possible for it to be mistaken for a completely ordinary Royal Oak, or, at best, a standard steel Jumbo. Strangers would have no idea that you’re actually sporting a rather unusual Luxury Audemars Piguet Watches in a rarely seen combination of utilitarian and precious metals. It’s an everyday watch, but a very special everyday watch.

What we have here are three new versions of the Fake Royal Oak Tourbillon Extra-Thin Watches, each with a colorful sunray-finished guilloché dial. There’s a purple version with stainless steel case and bracelet, a rose gold version with a blue dial, and, at the very top, a smoked blue execution with matching sapphire-set bezel and – wait for it – a platinum case and bracelet. If you look closely at the patterns on these dials, you can see that they represent an evolution of the expected Tapisserie style that has long been linked to Audemars Piguet and the Royal Oak, only now it radiates out from the tourbillon.

Why This Watch Matters

I think that it’s safe to say that of the “trinity” of great Best Audemars Piguet Replica, Audemars Piguet is the youngest in attitude, the brand most willing to try different things and not take itself quite so seriously. So it can’t really surprise us to see such a classic dress watch outfitted with a new dial design shot through with such vivid colors. But a dial is just a dial, right. Powering this watch is a beautifully-finished, manually-wound tourbillon movement, the AP Caliber 2924, whose finishing, when viewed through the sapphire casebook, also radiates from the tourbillon.

I saw AP CEO Francois-Henry Bennahmias in Miami late last year, and I noticed that he was wearing a vibrant purple Luxury Audemars Piguet Watches, the likes of which I had never seen before. We had quite a few other interesting watches in the room at the time, including an AP Supersonnerie, so I didn’t pay overmuch attention to it. He said that it was something that he’d asked to be made for himself, so I figured it was a unique piece just for Francois’s collection.
